Direct Buy Wood and Bamboo Flooring FAIL
I was pricing some bamboo flooring so I checked out everyone's website that doesn't totally fall down when Javascript is disabled, and one of the places I ended up viewing was http://bestbuyflooring.com/. After you install some personal information they let you know they want some money for shipping their flooring samples; they wanted almost ten bucks for some little scraps of wood. So I checked a radio button that said "delete my information and send nothing" and went on my merry way.
Several days later, I got an invoice for the shipping amount. Clearly not only did they not get the message that I will not pay them to advertise to me, but they obviously did not delete my information. So I sent back this message:
I clicked the radio button for "delete my information". Your incompetence is staggering.
Now delete my information and cancel this invoice.
That might be a little rude, but what I asked for was for my information to be deleted and for no charges to be placed, and what I received was a fraudulent invoice — it's fraud because I specifically asked NOT to be sent anything, and I was then billed for the thing. But what I got back was this:
From: sales@bestbuyflooring.com To: Martin EspinozaYour hostility is staggering not to mention you are very demanding. Do you have personal issues or something or perhaps just a miserable person? That must be a big word for you to use "incompetence" Did you have to look that one up or perhaps you are use to being called that yourself? Your information will be deleted as we don't want to do business with crazy people anyway.
By the way the form page with the button to delete your information did not come through so perhaps you did not hit the submit button.. No worries and we suggest you go shop at home depot...
Long story short, after a few more messages (in which I accused him of fraud and explained that he obviously got my form submission if he's invoicing me) he canceled the invoice with the following note:
congratulations you have been screened out and do not qualify to receive samples from our company. You match a profile of about 1 in 50 who think they deserve things for free in life.
Actually, I match a profile of about 49 in 50 who thinks that they deserve to not be invoiced for things they did not order. If you believe the same, perhaps you should avoid doing business with Direct Buy Wood and Bamboo Flooring. I wonder how many people have simply paid, and been bitten by their little scam?
