Subaru Axle 2
The inboard end of a front axle for a 1993 Subaru Impreza GC5, showing the female splines. This design (with the male splined end on the transmission) permits changing the axle without losing fluid from the differential.

Chrysler Turbine
This is a diagram of a third-generation [[Chrysler]] turbine engine. A car with an engine of this design was successfully driven coast to coast in the 1960s. The design was scrapped due to problems with transmissions and due to high exhaust heat, but it would be ideal for use in a series-electric hybrid vehicle.
