On another site we discussed LLMs and copyright and this is what I wrote about it there, and I liked it so much I thought I'd bring it here.

The underlying social reason why it should be this way is that copyright is (allegedly) for the purpose of protecting human effort in order to induce additional creations. Only if you work from the standpoint of it being only for protecting revenues (whether profit, tax, or both) does it even make sense to give copyright to AI creations.

Today I installed a set of plugs and coil packs on my 2008 Versa 6MT hatch. This is an easy job with almost no gotchas which requires only 8, 10, and 14mm sockets, 3" and 6" extensions, a socket wrench, a torque wrench, and a pair of pliers. I didn't even bother to disconnect the battery.

One place Linux could still use some work is I/O scheduling. By default it's quite possible for one task to crater your system because it's churning through a lot of data. You can fix this both ahead of time and while a task is running with ionice.

I finally got around to making suspend work correctly again on my Devuan Linux desktop. It is not very tricky, although it is slightly more complicated in my case because I use ZFS. These version numbers are probably not that important, but some people like it when you lead with them...
