A brief note on series hybrids with turbines

Chrysler Turbine

It is often asserted that series hybrids are not as efficient as parallel hybrids (citation needed) but this is only because they are being built with inefficient reciprocating internal combustion engines. The obvious solution is to use microturbines.

Chrysler Turbine

This is a diagram of a third-generation [[Chrysler]] turbine engine. A car with an engine of this design was successfully driven coast to coast in the 1960s. The design was scrapped due to problems with transmissions and due to high exhaust heat, but it would be ideal for use in a series-electric hybrid vehicle.Chrysler Turbine
